An established institutional platform
The E-Waste Nodal Centre is established at the Centre for Energy Studies, National Institute of Technology Hamirpur, under Project SAP22-NITHami-109. It supports research, innovation, capacity building and practical implementation across the electronic-product lifecycle.
Electronic waste includes reusable products, repairable components, valuable secondary resources and hazardous substances. Managing it responsibly requires coordinated participation from citizens, institutions, researchers, collection partners, transporters, repair and refurbishment enterprises, authorized recyclers, producers and government agencies.
The Centre provides a common platform through which these stakeholders can participate in responsible collection, scientific assessment, product-life extension, safe processing, material recovery, training, policy development and circular-economy innovation.
Institutional foundation
NIT Hamirpur provides an interdisciplinary environment linking energy studies, environmental science, chemical engineering, materials science, computer science, electronics, electrical engineering, management, chemistry, architecture and allied fields. This foundation allows the Centre to combine laboratory research with field implementation, digital systems, public participation and policy support.
